For me, my ideal university is a place where students grow intrinsically.
University is for higher education, the root of the word "education" is duc, meaning “to lead” in Latin. University is where we are led to find our intrinsic self.
Today, we pursue the external illusions of single indicators, rankings, awards, and indexes in our education. We have lost the habit of introspection, the inner peace, and ourselves. We have abandoned our own hearts and minds. As a result, our souls swing like a high-frequency pendulum between extreme expansion and inferiority. We have lost the gentle and calm attitude towards life.
My ideal university should not profane education to mere accumulation of knowledge. It should support diverse platforms such as singer competitions, bicycle clubs, stage plays and so on, among which students can find their passion and loves, meet their soulmates, and retrieve themselves.
It reminds me of a saying, “All education ultimately boils down to self-education”. Only when students no longer restricted by external illusions can they grow intrinsically, achieving self-development. And only in this way can the youth find their passions, and then greatly contribute to the society.
