With the rapid development of the Internet, people can learn as much on the Internet as they can by reading books. But it doesn’t mean one can replace another. In my opinion, they have different pros and cons. And therefore, I like both of them depending on different circumstances.

On one hand, The Internet offers a vast array of resources, including articles, e-books, videos and audios. So, when I want to refer to a small fact out of a specific area, or check out current events, I will always use the Internet. What’s more, the Internet also fosters interaction through online communities, and I sometimes talk with other netizens about an academic topic.

On the other hand, books are for deep reading alone. The smell of ink and the touch of paper lead me to read slowly and carefully from start to finish. For me, I would be more likely to pay attention to the details and arguments when I read a physical book. Eventually, the internet is not for deep reading. A small click will lead you to a different world.

It’s hard to say whether books or the Internet is better. It would be better if we combine the strengths of both mediums.
