Imagine now you are old. You're going to see a doctor, but you don't know how to register with your phone. In the market, you want to use cash, but others only accept mobile pay.

These are just a small part of cases the elderly meet nowadays. The youth are indigenous to the internet, the middle-aged are immigrants, and the elderly are refugees. According to latest statistic, elderly people over 60 years old account for over 18% of the total population, indicating the urgency and necessity of solutions. Fortunately, this phenomenon is getting better.

With the appeal of elderly-oriented reforms by central government, changes have been made. I want to introduce from the following 2 aspects.

Firstly, elderly-oriented designs have been made to bridge the digital gap. Popular apps like Alipay and WeChat now include “caring mode” for the elderly, and hospitals, banks and governments remain human-working services. Cash is forced to be acceptable by laws.

Secondly, teenager volunteers are teaching the elderly to use mobile phones in communities. This includes scanning a QR code, making video calls, and other basic usages in daily life.

To conclude, an elderly-friendly society is taking shape. When we are helping the elderly, we are actually helping ourselves, because we will eventually get old someday, and at that moment, we will also need care in the society with rapid technological progress. Thank you!
